Chelsea Rout Arsenal To Claim Fifth Europa Cup

In a landslide victory, Chelsea has won its fifth European title and their first since they won the Europa League in Amsterdam in 2013.

The victory has handed blues boss Maurizio Sarri his first trophy of his managerial career and has made certain that Arsenal will miss out on next season’s Champion League.

The match was played about 2,500 miles away from both teams’ homes, and only about 5,000 fans from both sides were able to make it to the half filled Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Many football fans expected the match to be very lackluster and it sure lived up to this expectation in the first half.

Fans grew weary of the poor show in the half, with no hope of any changes until the break.

The second half, however, brought good tidings for Chelsea fans as the match quickly moved from uninteresting to super!

Play by play

Former Arsenal striker, Olivier Giroud, found the back of the net and broke the deadlock, 9 minutes into the restart after latching onto Emerson’s cross with a brilliant near-post header that flew right past Petr Cech.

11 minutes later, Pedro, assisted by Hazard, shot another goal past Cech to give the Blues a 2-goal lead.

In another 5 minutes, Hazard made it 3-0 from the penalty spot, after Ainsley Maitland-Niles fouled Giroud.

Cech, who was playing his last career game, was helpless as the Blues swept each goal right past him.

Substitute, Alex Iwobi, gave Arsenal a much needed hope boost minutes after coming on with a brilliant first-strike that saw the Gunners close the goal gap by 1 goal.

However, their hope was short-lived as Hazard restored the goal difference almost immediately with his brace, handing Chelsea their fifth Europa title.

Speaking to the media after the game, Hazard said the match was likely his last for Chelsea as he plans his next club move.
