  “Business and Spirituality” is not a commonly discussed and highly contextualized topic in most business environments. Be it as it may, a lot of us would have encountered or made spiritual experiences at some point or regularly. To put things in context, spirituality is not the same as religion, though there is a correlation and often confusion.

“Religion is a specific set of organized beliefs and practices, usually shared by a community or group whilst Spirituality is more of individual practice and has to do with having a sense of peace and purpose. It also relates to the process of developing beliefs around the meaning of life and deep connection with others.”
It has to do with the alignment of the happy feeling of the inner and outer worlds, being deliberate and proactive rather than reactional, self-mastery, growth mindset, effective decision making, a purpose-driven life, selflessness and contributions to humanity. There are different definitions of spirituality from different philosophical perspectives, views, exposures, experiences, concepts and theories. Studies revealed that embracing spirituality in business can improve productivity greatly and supports business sustainability. It can reduce absenteeism and attrition rates, help improve communication and relationships, honesty, integrity, professionalism, self-esteem, and can help transform the workplace into a more happy, peaceful, and serene space. Studies also revealed that spirituality is an important element for happiness and has a link with personal satisfaction and workplace performance. Key spiritual values that can be embraced in our personal lives linked to business context include professionalism, service, integrity, honesty, dependability, accountability, quality, cooperation, intuition, trustworthiness, respect, justice and fairness. Embracing spirituality in the above context will greatly help the business ecosystem. May we find our inner peace and help in the midst of chaos. What To Do: Go For It!
