The Super Falcons are ready to take on any team in their way as they commence their campaign for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) on Sunday, November 18th, 2018.
Speaking to the media, the newly named team captain, Onome Ebi, revealed that each player on the team is ecstatic about the championship, and ready to put on a good show when they meet South Africa in their first games.
The 35-year old stated that though there are no easy targets in Africa anymore, the girls remain unfazed and are wiling do all they must to reach the final and win their 11th title.
“I will be leading the team and really can’t wait to get started, though we’ve started already.The spirit and zeal to win again is very high, even though we are going to be playing against tougher teams.”

After Sunday’s encounter against South Africa, the Falcons will meet Zambia on Wednesday, November 21, before they face Equatorial Guinea in their final group game on Saturday, November 24th.
So far, the Super Falcons have made thirteen appearances at the AWCON and have won ten titles — the highest number of titles won by any African women’s team.
