Artists, art lovers, collectors, and curators look forward to what is to be considered one of the most prestigious art fairs to be held on an international scale in the heart of Lagos. TP-Collective, a consultancy that develops businesses in the culture, art and design sector, will host the maiden edition of contemporary art fair, Art X Lagos, from the 4th to 6th of November, 2016, at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Designed to broaden Nigeria’s connection to contemporary art across and beyond Africa, Art X Lagos seeks to increase the visibility of contemporary art in Africa and to create a vibrant art market in Nigeria, with Lagos positioned as an emergent cultural capital on the continent.

The fair will feature contemporary art exhibitions from 65 Nigerian and African visual artists, and panel discussions, debates and screenings related to the growth and expansion of art by key stakeholders in Africa’s art economy. Exhibiting galleries and art spaces will include Nigerian Art Clip Africa, Arthouse – The Space, BLOOM Art, Quintessence, SMO Contemporary and IICD Abuja; Ghana’s Gallery 1957 and ANO; Goodman Gallery and Stevenson Gallery from South Africa, and Mali’s Galerie Medina. Exclusive individual exhibitions include the works of Ade Adekola, Obi Okigbo, and Victor Ehikhamenor. In addition, there will be live art drawing and painting performances, art installations and musical performances.

Tokini Peterside is the director and founder of TP-Collective, who has in its portfolio a proven record of successful projects which include the luxury store, ALARA; fashion designing outfit, Maki Oh; Half of a Yellow Sun, the movie based on Chimamanda Adichie’s novel and now, ART X Lagos. She will be partnering with renowned international curator, Bisi Silva, the founder and artistic director of the Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos and current artistic director of Art X Lagos.

The fair is open to the public. Visitors are required to register online for individual day passes prior to the event. ART X Lagos is sponsored by Access Bank, 7Up and ANAP Jets.
