No landlord will ever tell you the trouble you can expect from your neighbours in his building. This is because you are likely to run away hearing the treatment these neighbours have meted out to tenants who lived in the apartment you have chosen for yourself.
COCKROACHES CAN SLEEP ALONGSIDE YOU
Landlords do not like to talk about pest problem with their tenants. They know some prospects will be scared to learn about mice and cockroaches. But you feel helpless when you notice these crawling enemies finding their way to all corners of the apartment, even your wardrobe. If you hate pest or become afraid seeing them near you, it is better to enquire about their presence before signing the contract.
LANDLORD MAKES TOO MANY INSPECTIONS EVERY MONTH
A landlord is well within his right to inspect his property. But this inspection should take place on a monthly basis, especially when he comes along to collect the rent. Many landlords do not tell in advance that they would carry out frequent inspections, as they barge in without caring about the privacy of the tenant.

No landlord says he will not get problems fixed quickly. You are told that the problems will be fixed in a day or two, especially when you have paid a visit to finalize the place for yourself. But once you become a tenant, you learn that you have to literally beg your landlord to get necessary repairs done.
