Mobile phone users are constantly battling this addiction within themselves and sometimes it is far from being successful.

First, this will make you pay attention to other aspects of your life and limit the amount of hours you spend doing trivial things online.

Consider downloading apps that would help you with your self-control: You will agree with me that every year, apps that serve various purposes are released. There are also that can also help us limit our screentime. Some of them include space, forest, moment, flipd, screentime, etc.

Put an elastic hairband around your phone: This trick has been confirmed to have worked for those who tried it. Let the elastic band be in the middle of the phone. You can only answer phone calls but you cannot text. The hairband trick will make you mindful of how you use your phone.

Tweak your phone settings: You can turn off your notifications; turn on airplane mode or DND (Do Not Disturb) mode; set a longer password, etc. Changing these simple settings on your phone will discourage you from trying to opening your phone every few minutes.

Make sure that your phone is far from your bed when charging it: You can make it a thing of habit not to charge your phone or other gadgets in your bedroom. Charging your phone close to your bed will result in lack of rough sleep and strained communication with your partner. After each day of work, drop your phone in a drawer or elsewhere as soon as you arrive home. If you intentionally decide to be physically distant from your phone, you will never be controlled by it.

In conclusion, mobile phones are helpful but they can also be harmful. If you use them mindlessly, they will control your life and expose you to certain negative effects; they will pose as a major distraction to you. It is advisable that you learn how to control your phone’s usage as it is one of the most helpful skills you can possess.
