It’s stale news at this point that Nigerians aren’t too pleased with pay-TV service, DStv’s recent price hike. For years, the network has been our source of quality entertainment, sourced from international and local content providers. Its hosting company, South-African based Multichoice, first entered the Nigerian market in 1994 and has been dominant ever since due to strong customer loyalty. In the last five years, we’ve noticed the emergence of other pay-TV enterprises, coming in with promises of the same great content quality as DStv but at cheaper rates. We’ve done our research and have settled for 3 favourites from the many options available. In no particular order, they include:   1. Startimes Tv startimes (1)  
  • Profile: The China-based company was actually established in 1988. According to its official website, it is a key player in the Asian country’s Pay-TV market with over 7 million subscribers. It branched out operations to 10 African countries including Nigeria and Kenya.
  • Channels: Aljazeera, Iroko Plus, Star Zone, AMC Series, Wazobia TV, Kung-Fu 1 and WapTV, Nickelodeon and others.

  • Channels: Fox Africa, FilmBox, Fox News, IbakaTV, bet, Nickelodeon, MTV Base and others.
  • Packages: Montage TV currently runs a single bouquet option with a total of 36 channels.
