Tope’s educational background has played a crucial role in her success. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Lagos. She has continued to develop her business skills through programs at Lagos Business School and FATE Foundation’s Aspiring Entrepreneurship Program. This combination of formal education and practical experience has equipped her with the knowledge and skills to succeed in business.

Entrepreneurial Journey

Tope’s entrepreneurial spirit emerged early in her life. At just 16 years old, she started her first business called “Gifted Hands,” a makeup company that operated for ten years. This early venture showed Tope’s ability to identify opportunities and create successful enterprises from a young age. As she grew older, Tope’s entrepreneurial drive only intensified. At 19, she founded “Fínífíní Enterprises,” a cleaning services company. This demonstrated her versatility in business, moving from beauty products to services. These early experiences laid the foundation for her future success in larger, more complex business ventures. One of Tope’s most innovative ideas came in 2012 when she created a system to connect rural farmers with urban consumers. This project, called “Ojawara,” brought fresh produce from the rural areas to Lagos, Nigeria’s largest city with over 20 million people. Tope organized a monthly market in Lekki, a part of Lagos, where urban dwellers could buy directly from rural farmers. This initiative provided fresh food to city residents and gave rural farmers better access to a large market. Tope’s biggest breakthrough came when she co-founded Farmcrowdy, Nigeria’s first digital agricultural platform. Launched in November 2016, Farmcrowdy used technology to connect investors with farmers, helping to modernize and improve Nigeria’s agricultural sector. Tope’s role in the company grew. She started in product development and sales but became the Vice President of Operations. Just one year after the company’s launch, Tope was promoted to Chief Operations Officer (COO). As COO of Farmcrowdy, Tope managed a vast network of over 25,000 farmers across 14 Nigerian states. This role required exceptional organizational and leadership skills, as she coordinated complex farming operations across a large and diverse country. Her success in this position highlights her ability to handle large-scale projects and lead teams effectively. In 2019, Tope became the Managing Director of Crowdyvest, which was initially a sister company to Farmcrowdy. Under her leadership, Crowdyvest has flourished. The company focuses on creating an “impact-driven community” that provides financial solutions to help individuals and businesses achieve financial freedom. Crowdyvest also aims to promote growth that aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Tope’s leadership at Crowdyvest has been remarkably successful. In just over a year, the company raised more than $20 million through savings and investments from a community of over 100,000 members. This rapid growth demonstrates Tope’s ability to build and scale businesses quickly and effectively.
