First, being funny on social media will make your posts go viral. Consider this: an amusing ad will likely get retweeted faster than a more serious one. People like to be entertained. They want to let off the stress of the day, and you can help them do that by making them have a good laugh.  Second of all, being funny is a great and organic way to grow your network. You will get more likes, followers and shares. This goes on to say that genuine humour will guarantee you a boost in your engagement with your audience. However, it is important to know whether your humour fits your brand. Find out if you can add humour to the kind of content that you publish or the kind of ad that you run. Brand managers, PR teams, social media handlers, marketers, etc. should all endeavour to engage their audiences by publishing branded messages that are casual and humourous in a way that fits their brands. They could join in trending conversations and interact informally with their customers and at the same time inform the public of their services and goods. But it is advisable that they use their authentic voice whilst protecting their values to their target audience. They should not jump in on trends or make jokes that do not align with their values or audience. Use humour to alert your followers on your platforms about a new product that was launched recently.
