Most times when am working on my system, replying to my WhatsApp chats, which I certainly have to do, can be a distraction. Shuttling between two screens sometimes makes me lose focus on what I am working on. However, with the new WhatsApp desktop app, I no longer have to shuttle between two different screens but can focus on my work and still reply to my chats all from my laptop.

The new WhatsApp desktop app is simply an extension of your mobile device. It mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device. You are now able to keep in touch with business associates, friends and family while from your laptop’s screen without having to reach for your mobile. For those who aren’t already on WhatsApp mobile, you have to get it first on your mobile device then sync the account with the desktop app.

The desktop app automatically synchronizes with your mobile phone contacts and contents. It has features to make conversations and messages easily accessible, like native desktop notifications and keyboard shortcuts. The desktop app is available for Windows 8 and above for Windows systems and Mac OS 10.9 and above for Mac systems.

To download, visit https://www.whatsapp.com/download from your desktop browser, open the app and scan the QR code using the WhatsApp app on your mobile device. To scan, go to settings on your mobile WhatsApp and look for WhatsApp web menu.

I just got the app on my laptop, it seems cool and has my chat history updated. You can check it out.
