Two Brothers; One Goal Of Democratizing Employment
Ngcareers was founded by two brothers, Andrew Eze and Paul Eze, who saw how powerful the internet could be at disseminating information and decided to leverage it. While in university, Andrew started a regular blog with the aim of collating information on job openings and dispensing it to the general public. It didn’t take long for his brother, Paul, to join him, and seeing the prospects of Ngcareers being a success, they registered the company under the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2010. At first, the brothers had to juggle school and their new venture; this proved daunting and thus affected the growth of Ngcareers. However, in 2012, when they were done with school, they were able to tend to the website and soon it was up and running.
In 2014, Ngcareers announced that it had teamed up with Mobofree, a social marketplace with over 3 million registered users and about 2 million page views on a daily basis. According to the founders of Ngcareers, this unconventional collaboration between a job listing platform and a social marketplace would further serve to boost the growth of Ngcareers by giving more Nigerians access to the plethora of job offers available on the site and in essence positively impact its job ads and provide value to employers.
As at 2014, Ngcareers had over 200,000 registered users and over 2000 employers seeking job candidates. These numbers have definitely increased manyfold since then.
