For you to become the US president, you need to be “a natural born” US citizen, at least 35 years old, and have been a resident for 14 years.
This election has been marred by controversies for both candidates. For Donald Trump, from the moment the New York businessman launched his campaign with the description of Mexican immigrants as “rapists and criminals” to when he waged wars of words with a judge, a Miss Universe, a Fox News anchor and the Muslim family of a fallen soldier, his candidacy has rarely gone a few weeks without sparking some uproar. The biggest bombshell to jolt the Trump campaign came on October 7th with the publication of a video from 2005. Mr. Trump is heard referring to women in sexually offensive terms when he was caught on a live microphone during the filming of a soap.
For Hilary Clinton the damage done by her private email arrangement to her reputation has marred her campaign with distrust, despite the FBI effectively closing the investigation in July and clearing her of any wrongdoing. Questions have also been raised about the foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation.
Most Americans view this election as a choice between the devil and the deep blue sea based on the reputations of both candidates. Whatever happens, whomever wins, the American system may never remain the same.
