iCreate Africa was founded by Bright Jaja with the mandate to prioritize technical skills as a global currency and a tool that empowers citizens to create sustainable and inclusive economies as a social enterprise. The focus is to address the societal perception affecting youth participation in technical skills by rebranding technical skills, uplifting the profiles of skilled professionals, and projecting skills in the mainstream. For over four years, iCreate Africa has been partnering with different Vocational Institutions, governments, and Industries to promote technical skills by changing the negative societal perception using the Skills Fest as a modernized forum to uplift the profile and recognition of Skills, Professionals and encourage young people to build a passion for trade professions in other to reduce unemployment and close the skills gap.   Since 2017, iCreate skills fest has been hosted across 4 states and has initiated impressive change in the trades industry. These changes include:
  1. Creating direct employment for over 10,000 Skilled Professionals. 
  2. Empower 2575 with financial capital, tools, and equipment.
  3. Supported over 1000 local trade businesses across 4 states. 
  4. Trained over 5000 youths across 4 states.
  5. Inspired over 300,000 youth to acquire skills.

The 5th edition of the iCreate skills Fest in collaboration with the Africa International housing show will focus on the implementation of a sustainable system that will address the challenges affecting the Skills workforce in the construction industry such as competence in service delivery, inadequate access to training, informal employment structure, irregular wage/compensation and the absence of financing for artisans. The skill fest will hold at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, from 4th to 6th April 2022. The objectives of the 5th edition of the skill fest include:
  1. Bridging the gap between government, industries, and institutions to respond to labour market needs and craft a sustainable future for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Nigeria.
  2. Implementing technological systems that facilitate easy access to the Non-academic segment of the labour market.
  3. Upskill artisans with soft skills, digital skills, and updated workplace techniques.
  4. Creating a system that promotes decent wages for artisans in the construction industry. 
  5. Boosting the self-esteem and confidence of artisans, to find pleasure and dignity in their chosen career.
iCreate skill fest is nicknamed The Olympics of Skills and it is for Showcasing Skills Excellence and Competence in Building and Construction. Skilled Plumbers, Carpenters, Bricklayers, Electricians, Tilers, Welders, Painters, POP Installers, Bricklayers are individuals expected to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their skills in Africa’s largest Skills competition and be rewarded with Cash prices, Power tools, training, endorsements deals, and Job opportunities in reputable organizations. Application Closes on 28th February 2022 and Early registration has an advantage.  According to the founder,
“Vocational education is a proven gateway to decent work, rewarding occupations, self-employment, and entrepreneurship,”.
