$10,000 Grant on Offer in The Nigerian Energy Forum (NEF) is organizing its annual Africa Energy Innovation Forum. Accordingly, it is calling on early-stage entrepreneurs whose business ideas could positively transform the generation, distribution and utilization of energy on the continent to enter the contest. Winners will receive up to $10,000 in grants, among other benefits.

Proposals are expected from entrepreneurs who work with research institutions or established organizations to develop a prototype model of a product or solution for a social enterprise, agribusiness, FinTech, or energy management that utilizes local resources. Entries should fit in with one of these four tracks:
  • Clean energy solutions for agro-industry
  • Energy for healthcare and education
  • Smart Metering and Artificial Intelligence
  • Cleaner Electrification of Transport/oil and gas
  • Note: At least 1 winner will be announced from each track.

Benefits

This competition could deliver the following benefits to participants:
  • Winners could take home grants of up to $10,000 to scale their solution
  • Get the chance to pitch your idea at the Nigeria Energy Forum, using a poster and short video
  • Meet and network with other entrepreneurs, senior professionals, and representatives of government, industry, and academia
  • Attend business development workshops and get support from a business incubator

Eligibility

This program is open to persons who meet the following criteria:
  • Should be aged between 18 and 35 years
  • Entries must be submitted by teams of at least 3 people; teams formed across higher education institutions, companies, or countries are allowed to enter
  • Should be able to demonstrate or show proof of local content, originality and creativity, clarity, and commercial viability
  • Note: Women-led teams are encouraged to apply.
