Could it be more sales? Building a loyal following? Or just creating a profile to be reached? Outlining your social media objective will help you know what activities will be worth focusing on and what you should spend the most of your time doing. 
  • Bad social media profiles
Bad or unprofessional profile on social media is one mistake many people are still making. Your profile is like your CV to the world. We are now in a day and time where people will first check your social media profile before making a decision to interact with you. You have to make your profile as informative and professional as possible, putting out only relevant and attractive information on it. This should consist of your real names or brand name, logo and colors that help communicate your value and brand. You should also have links to your sites or other platforms that can give out more information about you. 
  • Promoting always
The aim of being on social media might be to ultimately generate sales but it is a journey. Social media is a means to an end, and you must be willing to take on this journey with your followers. Your followers are at different stages and levels with you, with some knowing you very well, to others not knowing you at all. Social media is social networking where the first goal is to connect and interact with people, not get them to spend their money. People will only give you money when they have learned to trust you.

  • Creating unrelatable content
Content will always be king. You attract the specific kind of people you desire to when you put out the right content. Content is a gamechanger. It is what gets you noticed and attracts your audience to you. Your content is like a mirror that helps people see what to expect and what they will be missing out on if they do not stick with you. Content can be diversified into texts, designs, videos, audios among others. Choose a form of content that will be an advantage to your brand and will best communicate your value to your audience. 
  • Ignoring DMs
Depending on your goal on social media, realize that the best way to close a deal is via the DM. You must make a habit to respond to your direct messages, and sufficiently respond to enquiries about your products and services. Good customer care service will always be a win.  In everything you see and do on social media, do not lose your professionalism and ensure quality control in your service.
