In recent times, several online platforms have sprung up with the interest of drawing women and mothers from around the globe together. These online communities are so important because they help foster the dissemination of information that can be beneficial to women and their children. 

Such platforms usually focus on women’s health, pregnancy and nurture. At any rate, these platforms are the place to be for mothers, expectant mothers, and anyone who hopes to be a mother in the future.

African Mommy

African Mommy is a platform where women, especially African mothers, are given the opportunity to connect, share their stories, and support each other through medical assistance and health tips. Founded by Shile Ismalia, African Mommy launched to solve the high rate of maternal mortality in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Babymigo

The period between conception and childbirth is a time when mothers need to be conscious of their health and take the necessary measures to ensure safe delivery. This is where Babymigo comes in. Babymigo is the biggest community for expectant mothers and parents. Due to its impact, it has been featured on Yahoo, Quartz, and listed as one of Time Magazine’s 50 Genius Companies of 2018. Omomi 

The formative years of a child’s life are one of its most important years. It is a time when parents have to be well-informed on key aspects such as breastfeeding, growth, nutrition, food supplementation, and the management of diarrhoea. Omomi (meaning “my child” in Yoruba), emerged to enable parents monitor the health of their children using mobile technology. 

Its mobile application was launched in 2015 to ensure that a woman’s health is covered right from pregnancy to childbirth and beyond. With Omomi, mothers can easily get daily reminders for immunisation visits and also track the nearest hospitals using a GPS locator. Founded in 2013 by Anike Lawal, Mamalette is home to over 70,000 and mothers-to-be who are in search of information to improve their lives and overall wellbeing.
