Major stakeholders in the Nigerian Retail Industry engaged in high level discussions at the Retail Leaders Conference, on June 16, 2015.  Consultancy firm, Bervidson Group convened the event with Connectnigeria.com, UBA, MTN, Insight Communicatios and Halogen Security among its list of sponsors and partners. Lampe Omoleye, MD Nielson West Africa; Peter Bamkole, Director EDC Pan-Atlantic University; Sylvester John, West Africa Executive Game Stores; Chief Tokunbo Omisore, CEO Top Services Limited; Bukky George, Cofounder/CEO HealthPlus and Adenike Ogunlesi, Founder/CEO, Ruff ‘n’Tumble were some of the notable personalities that made up the speakers list. The facilitators expanded on the seven key variables necessary for driving the industry’s future – themed “The Seven Horsemen – with practical examples from their business endeavours, both past and present, and insightful statistics. Variables included knowledge of the evolving shopper and target psychographic groupings, solutions for dealing with international competition,  the roles of human capacity development, branding and the internet in ensuring commercial success among others. Highlights of the event included a call for the formation of a lobby group to put pressure on the government for increased protection of retailers against international competition. Mrs. Adenike Ogunlesi put this forward, to the evident agreement of participants present.
