I’ve been hounding friends and family to send reviews of restaurants that they have visited. Last weekend, my cousin, Chiamaka told me about Wells Café and Bakehouse. She and a colleague stopped by the café for brunch after an early meeting with a client. This is what she had to say:

This café is located in the heart of Asokoro, precisely at No. 2 Gado Nasko Close, off José Marti Crescent. I will briefly review the ambience, food and service. Ambience: You’ll love the serene ambience of this café. It’s perfect for meetings, romantic dates or fun hangouts with friends. I loved the skilled use of greenery in the café. I think it contributes to its aesthetic appeal. I also appreciated the fact that it had multiple seating areas. The Café has two floors. The bakery is downstairs; you’ll find bread and other scrumptious pastries there. The bakery smells like heaven. We placed our orders there and we went upstairs. There’s a lounge there and an outdoor spot. Customers can chill in either place to wait for their orders or to enjoy their meals when they arrive. They can also set up a temporary workstation there. We sat in the lounge and it was really cozy. The music was cool. My friend and I didn’t have to shout to hear each other.

Food: This Café s specialty is its pastries. Just looking at them through the display glass will make your mouth water. Anyways, I ordered the morning delight package from the breakfast menu. It cost six thousand, five hundred Naira. It included a glass of fresh juice, bacon, egg, banana pancake, grilled tomatoes, sautéed potatoes and jam. It was a beautiful plate of goodness and it was quite filling. My friend had the Asian-style spicy chicken wings and chips. It cost four thousand, five hundred Naira. Our orders took an hour to arrive. Since we were really hungry, we had to have something to ‘hold body.’ I ordered the milkshake while my friend ordered the virgin sunrise mocktail. l loved the rich, chocolatey taste of my drink. My friend described her mocktail as sunrise in a glass. When the food finally arrived, we enjoyed it. I couldn’t finish my food though. But that’s not because the portion was much but because I had already taken a glass of Milkshake. Service: The staff we interacted with were polite. As I already mentioned, our food took an hour to arrive. I know the food here is prepared on request but I feel the wait time could be shorter. Anyways, they have games to occupy you while you wait for your order. So, my friend and I played Ludo and Truth or Dare. That’s it. Would I visit again? Definitely. That also means that I recommend Wells Café and Bakehouse. Featured image source: SalmahXO
