Ake Arts and Book Festival has indeed become a yearly pilgrimage for literary lovers, as it brings together novelists, poets, dancers, actors, illustrators, activists, musicians and artists to share their work and their ideas. It was held at the Arts and Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta on November 14-18, 2017.  It was themed “This F-Word” and it focused much on creative women who are doing amazing things both on the African continent and beyond.  The event ranged from Nnedi Okorafor creative writing workshop to concerts that had Salawa AbeniAdunni and Nefertiti, to visitations of six schools across Abeokuta city, amazing book chats, interesting conversations, storytelling sessions among many others. Discussions like What’s New in African Feminism, Women and Spirituality, Sexual Violence, Women in Politics, Directing Her Narratives, Men Who Write Women and so much more.
