Books are oxygen to survive on.  In-between the pages of a book is the best place to live. Reading is the ability to obtain meaning from words. It is therefore amazing when I see people who try to improve the reading culture among children. Continuous reading of books becomes very habitual, and help develop the mind of our tomorrow’s Leaders. Books take you places you have only dreamed of, allows you to visit cultures. Books help to build a child’s self-esteem, mental ability and reasoning skills. It is noteworthy to applaud Tosin Jegede, the founder of 1 child, 1 Book, program. Tosin Jegede was a child sensation in the 1980’s, she released three different albums: Children Arise, Leaders of Tomorrow, Children of Africa. Her songs which were composed by her father were very popular. A child singing sensation in the 1980’s, she is back to the country to assist the life of Lagos public secondary school children. She owns a foundation, Tosin Jegede Foundation, that pioneers the program which is aimed at improving the quality of life of underprivileged children in Nigeria through books. Her pet project One Child One Book, started in 2011 in Lagos State. A visit to her foundation website shows a recent collaboration with #kitachild in improving the life of Lagos’ children with books.  A move in bringing back the dead reading culture lost in Nigeria. By ensuring every primary school child is empowered with a book of their own would assist in improving the literacy level of the nation. Organizations and individuals have helped the foundation in achieving their required goal of providing Primary School children in Lagos State with a book of their own. Obtaining the support of the Lagos Education Board to attain calculated information of books needed for each session and its distribution plan.
