Nokia has announced the entry of its X-Family into the smartphone market and it is a great surprise as the new phones are Nokia’s first set of devices powered by the Android Operating System.
The X-Family recently released consists of 3 budget Android devices named Nokia X, Nokia X+ (more memory) and Nokia XL (5-inch display). Although it does not look like an Android on the surface, its user interface features has elements borrowed from the Asha and the Lumia range and is pre-installed with BlackBerry Messenger and Microkia, an alternative to Google services. This means there would be no Google Play Store but a new Nokia store for users to download apps from. With this range too, there is access to third party stores for apps downloads.
The first of the Nokia X-Family is already available in all ‘growth markets’ with the other two to be released by April-June, 2014. The phones are well-priced and affordable with price ranges respectively at 89 euros, 99 euros and 109 euros.
