In a tweet on Monday, November 2, 2020, the Nigeria Football Federation revealed that the Belgian-based striker will take the place of injured Moses who is expected to be on the sidelines for a while.
25-year-old Simon Moses during his side’s (Nantes) clash with PSG in the Fench Ligue One, lasted for only 25 minutes before he was replaced by Kader Bamba. His replacement for the AFCON qualifier matches, Paul Onuachu, registered his ninth goal in ten matches for his Belgian club, Genk, during Friday’s (October 30, 2020) First Division A 4-0 victory over KAS Eupen. Onuachu was part of the Super Eagles squad that lost 1-0 to Algeria and played out a one-all draw against Tunisia in the October international friendlies in Austria.
