By You begins with Simi showing off a huge engagement ring while singing ‘diamonds are forever’ and ends with Adekunle Gold singing his song ‘Orente’ to Simi at their traditional wedding.
Viewers follow Adekunle and Simi as they dance, drive around, climb rocks and wander through a huge bookstore in By You. Simi sings ‘I’m scared of falling, but I will fall a thousand miles for you.’ and Adekunle responds with ‘In a sea of people I’ve been searching for you. You can rely on me.’
We love this music video because it reminds us that Simi and Adekunle Gold are now husband and wife. The two got married early this year, but the ceremonies were kept secret until they released the song Promise a few days later. The song came with a music video that showed their fans clips and teasers from the wedding ceremony. The couple have been very clear about their wish to keep their married life as private as possible. They have apparently chosen instead to give us small glimpses of their happiness on their own terms.
Their union promises a kind of musical magic that we haven’t yet seen from the two. According to Adekunle Gold, the two were courting for 5 years before they tied the knot, and if we judge their relationship by the quality of music they’ve put out in the past 5 years, it’s safe to say that they are incredibly good for each other.
Watching them sing and play in front of the camera is like watching two best friends. By You will warm your heart.
