Each weekend new movies make their way into the cinemas, and this week we bring you two of the newest Nigerian films showing in cinemas across the country.
Black Rose
Black Rose is a movie by Okechukwu Oku. It follows the story of Rose, a young girl with a firm understanding of the virtuous woman as imparted by her mother but not so practised by her sister. Her desire for a better life without giving up her dignity seems to be in the person of Desmond, a man who she- not minding their differences- falls hopelessly in love with from the first time she sees him. She is soon engulfed in his world even though she would rather not be.
It stars Blossom Chukwujekwu, Ebele Okaro, Lilian Echelon, Betty Belor and JKA Swanky, and was written by Beth Rogers, and produced and directed by Okechukwu Oku.
Fantastic Numbers
This romantic comedy is about twins separated at birth who bump into each other in a seemingly dramatic circumstance. They become sworn enemies rather than friends or brothers. Similarly, a set of triplets, abandoned by their mother are brought together by fate just when they needed each other after they have led separate lives for many years.
Fantastic Numbers highlights prevalent societal ills, the beauty of a positive life, the potency of our decisions or indecisions and how they come to bear on bringing children into this world.
Among the movies cast are Funky Mallam, Ivie Okujaye, Paul Sambo, Rahama Sadau, Sambasa Nzeribe, Sani Danja, and Yakubu Mohammed. It is produced by Paul Papel Apel.
