In June 2011, Mrs. Michelle Obama made a historic trip to South Africa to meet with 76 Young African Women Leaders of which our very own TOYOSI AKERELE was the only Nigerian present.

Toyosi was recognized as one of 76 Young African Women Leaders from across the continent, invited for a 4 day forum in South Africa this week. Despite being among VERY impressive roll call of young African Women, Toyosi got a special recognition from Mrs. Obama in this video released by the White House

In Mrs Obama’s exact words, she said, “We’ll be looking to women like Toyosi, she’s a 28 year old from Nigeria, who every year, assembles 50,000 people for the largest youth conference in the country…”

Again, this is a dedication to you for standing and staying so true to our dream at RISE and for your immense impact and contribution to our work through these years. Nigeria needs more citizens with the zeal and determination that she has and belief that against all odds, You can achieve your dreams
