Toxhann Concepts and Events is an upscale event management and consultancy firm founded by Tosin Olorokun but currently run by him and Tola Banire who relocated from the USA to Nigeria 2 years ago. Toxhann Concepts and Events which began operations a little over 4 years ago started primarily as a one-stop-shop for ideas creation as regards event management; however, it has evolved over time to cover key areas in the entertainment sector; talent hunt shows and reality shows, concerts, and artiste branding.
Connect Nigeria had a chat with the founder, Tosin Olorokun where he elaborates his doggedness for perfection and how Toxhann Concepts and Events brings to bear its wealth of experience in the entertainment sector in Nigeria.
CN: Tell us about you and the brain behind Toxhann
TO: My name is Tosin Olorokun and I was born 29 years ago, I have a business partner Tola Banire who joined me 2 years ago when he relocated to Nigeria from the U.S.A. Toxhann Concepts and Events is an upscale event management and consultancy firm; our slogan “Innovative Events Consultants” describes our doggedness for perfection. Toxhann brings to bear its wealth of experience in the event management world; we have been involved in successful events in recent years.
CN: What differentiates Toxhann events and concepts from other event companies out there?
TO: We have our own unique way of getting work done. conceptualizing from scratch and creating a long-lasting relationship with our clients to deliver even more than the picture they have in their head as regards their event.
CN: How did it all start?
TO: It all started while I was in school, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State where I planned events and shows, then in my church I came up with different ideas of events that are not the normal events we have. I derive so much joy staying behind the scene and making great things happen. Then, I later met with Bimbo Awobokun, who has an event outfit as well, (Checklist Event Managers). He discovered me professionally and that was how it all started.
CN: Who is your target market?
TO: Our target market are corporate and social bodies that might have “any” event related jobs either locally or internationally.
CN: Toxhann seem very exquisite and upscale, are your services very expensive?
TO: Nothing good comes cheap, but in as much as we all work to be comfortable as humans and also cater for our immediate families, we ensure that Toxhann’s charges are reasonable and we also consider individual budgets before we charge.
CN: Are there challenges peculiar to your line of business? How are you overcoming them?
TO: The major challenge right now, is that this profession has been taken for granted; it is now all-comers. For instance, you see someone who tried to organise a family gathering and got good comments from her family afterwards, the next thing that comes to her head is how he/she would start an event management company of her own without even any professional experience. A lot of people who had come in contact with such half-baked ‘professionals’ believe all event planners or coordinators are there to just extort people and do not deliver due to funny experiences they’ve had with some of these “honorary planners”.
CN: The events industry has grown in leaps and bounds recently, how do you handle competition in a market that seems saturated?
TO: I wouldn’t want to talk much on that, because in our own case, we end up being friends with our clients and even our direct competitors, as a result of our delivery; we conceptualize and finish excellently
CN: Any tip for the entrepreneur out there?
TO: I have just three; prayer, persistence and hard work.
CN: Do you have any Role model?
TO: Yes, I have two, God and my father. My father because he’s so Industrious and exudes so much energy.
CN: What are the short term/long term plans for Toxhann events?
TO: Like I said earlier, we are a moving train and we want to continually build Toxhann Concepts and Events into event consultancy brands that can be reckoned with any day anytime both locally and internationally.
