What Is Machine Learning?
Machine learning in simple terms refers to how artificial intelligence helps systems to automatically learn from data and improve user experience because of it. Notice how YouTube always seems to have your most preferred videos/subscribed channels on your home screen? That should give you an inkling as to how machine learning works in real life. Netflix also works like this. Google employs machine learning in suggesting ads to you and so does Facebook.Read more about Tech
What Is It Used For?
Well, you should know by now but if it helps, machine learning is employed in search engines and websites to make personalized recommendations, in email filters, it helps to filter out spam e-mails, in banking software, to filter genuine transactions from rather unusual transactions. Voice recognition is also another measure software uses to learn from human behaviour. Medical diagnosis, image processing also now employ machine learning in how they work.Types Of Machine Learning?
There are three types of machine learning: supervised learned, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning. Supervised learning is the type of machine learning that works with labelled data. The data needs to be labelled accurately for this method to work perfectly. Unsupervised machine learning works with unlabeled data meaning it does not require human labour to make the dataset machine-readable. It essentially allows much larger datasets to be worked on by the program.Sign up to the Connect Nigeria daily newsletter
Reinforcement learning learns data from how human beings behave. The algorithm here improves itself and learns from new situations through a trial-and-error method. “Favorable outputs are encouraged or ‘reinforced’, and non-favourable outputs are discouraged or ‘punished”.
What Careers Are Available?
Python is the most suitable programming for those who are considering AI or machine learning in particular. So the most obvious career path here is becoming a python developer. But there are other career options too: 1. Product manager 2. Data Analyst 3. Educator/Teacher 4. Data Journalist 5.
