Students of the Lagos State University, LASU, have accepted to pay the new school fees recently published by the University’s Governing Council and also to resume academic activities “while negotiation for further reduction in the school fees continues.”
In a communiqué signed and released on Saturday by the Chairman and the Secretary of the Lagos State University Students’ Union (LASUSU) Congress Committee respectively, Comrade Owolabani Peter and Odukoya Olatunji, after a meeting of the Students’ Union Congress on Wednesday, the students voted for acceptance of the new fee regime and resumption of academic activities in the institution.
“Drawing inference from the opinion of the students as shown above – 22 out of 27 students (forming the majority) – accepted that the school should resume while the students’ union leaders continue with the struggle intellectually till the government further reduces the fee”, the communique read.
22 out of 27 students at the Student Union Congress accepted the new fee regime and resumption of academic activities at the institution.
Speaker of the Students Union, Balogun Hamed Funso, headed the ten-man Communiqué Drafting Committee, comprising of one member from each of the ten faculties of the institution.
