  1. Clean your makeup applicators
Your makeup brushes, sponges and powder puffs need that extra care and attention because they serve as the intermediary between some products and your face. A lot of times, products get stuck in between the bristles or get soaked in your makeup sponge, and if you do not clean them regularly, your client may end up with skin irritation, bacteria, or worse.  Clean your makeup applicators immediately after use. You can clean your brushes with methylated spirit and tissue paper. Try to thoroughly wash your brushes at least once a week, especially your concealer brushes and your makeup sponges. Clean them gently with mild soap to wash off the excess product lodged between the bristles, and let them dry completely before using them again.

Makeup products like eyeshadow, foundation, powder, concealer, etc have expiry dates but they may expire sooner if not well kept, and due to bacteria reactions.  It is always advisable to check the expiry dates of these products. It is bad for business to use expired products on your client, it shows carelessness and unprofessionalism. 3. Store your products properly Keeping your makeup products in the right place at all times is important. Don’t leave your products scattered all over the place, where they can be easily stepped on or go missing. Arrange your products neatly, either in your box, the drawers in your shelf or wherever you keep them. Always take note of the number of products you have. Store your products in a cool dry place. Do not store your products in a wet place. Your clients’ confidence in you increases when they see how organized you are.
  1. Don’t share your makeup products
Caring for your makeup products also includes not sharing them. Remember they are your business tools. Sharing them is not a good way to take care of them, as you may not have control over the use and storage. Not sharing your makeup products prolongs the life significantly. Your friends should understand that they are your business tools and cannot be shared. The process of maintaining your makeup products and keeping them hygienic does not take very long. As a makeup artist, it is important to have the habit of using these techniques. Make sure dirt has no place in your makeup box. Featured image source: The Hans India
