An African adage says, “if you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go with someone”. Many Nigerians have inculcated this adage into their lives as much as many companies have inculcated this habit into their processes to drive growth and productivity with the help of a strong team.
To have a strong team is not by a mere wish. There are pertinent steps to take to make an organization work. This is because the qualities of the right team are not certified by paper but rather are intangible human characteristics. This is why it is very difficult for companies and recruiters to get this specific set of people. However, to attract the right team to your organization, you must:

- SET CLEAR ROLES:
Well, this might seem to be irrelevant but it is highly important for organisations to set clear roles and rules. One thing about having the right team on your table is that they love to have clearly defined roles and expectations. This means that there is a clearly defined proportion for them to act within without feeling like they are overriding the set authorities. This tip might seem counterintuitive, however, the right team are usually a group of people with boundless energy and they might likely be cannonballs if there is no noticeable structure to guide them.
- ALLOW FOR FLEXIBILITY:
Flexibility allows each team member to give their best and bring their best to the table. Although there are clearly defined roles, there must be flexibility within those roles. Every individual must be allowed to have the space for self-expression. This is what attracts the best team for the business, the reason being that they know that their voice will be heard and their suggestion was taken important. Most teams do not run best when they are micromanaged.

- SEAMLESS COMMUNICATION:
Effective teams need open lines for communication. There should be seamless communication between every layer of the organisation. This allows the greenhorns to know that they have a chance to get their voice heard at whatever level. For an organisation to have the right team, it needs to have a clear line of communication so that data can move from lower levels to a higher level and vice versa without a break in communication or misinformation.
In summary, it is pertinent for organisations to put their staffs first and give their very best to the continual training of the team. This is because teams can only give back what they have received and teams need these for best performance. Research by various HR’s around the world state how difficult it is to gather a team of people that are perfectly suited for the job they are given.
The wrong set on a project is doomed to fail. This is why HR managers in different organizations put a lot of resources into sending advertisements and brochures for as many candidates as possible to fill vacant roles available in the company.
