Globacom, Nigeria’s telecommunication service provider, will in this month, honour Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka along with three of Nigeria’s young literary writers – Sefi Atta, Tope Folarin and E.C. Osondu The company released this information in a statement stating that the event, tagged “A Night with Wole Soyinka and Nigeria’s Young Literary Stars”, is to celebrate these literary stars for their immense contributions to literature and for projecting Nigeria to the literary world. Noting that Soyinka brought honour and glory to Nigeria and the whole of Africa with his literary works, the event will showcase a documentary on his life and times as well as a reading of his works by the three writers to also be celebrated. In addition to celebrating the Nobel Laureate, the event will serve as a platform for literature lovers and the media to interact with Soyinka and the award winning writers. The writers will share with the audience their personal perspective on African literature and Professor Wole Soyinka’s contributions to African literature in an interactive exchange. The evening will be one of intellectual stimulation and sublime entertainment for guests. At the event, a special prize in Literature tagged, “The Glo Literature Prize for Undergraduate Students” will be launched for undergraduate students across the country.
