The Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP-Nigeria) has scheduled a free colon cancer screening session at the National Cancer Prevention Programme Centre in Surulere, Lagos. The screening will take place on 25th April, 2015 and will be open to adults over 40 years with a family history of the disease. Colon cancer currently stands as the third most prevalent cancer in Nigeria. It is a preventable disease which affects the colon, a 5 feet muscular tube at the end of the bowel which stores faeces internally until it is passed out. CECP-Nigeria is an initiative of the Organized Private Sector (OPS) with an aim to promote “a vibrant social sector through private-public-social (tripartite) partnership”. The CECP initiative is also set on raising more awareness about the disease in Nigeria.   Date: Saturday, April 25, 2015.
