Going around during this rainy season, especially if you are walking can be quite messy. Puddles and mud are everywhere and the atmosphere is cold even though it sometimes feels nice. The important thing is to make the best use of the weather and stop sulking about your environment. Although it is advisable not to walk in the rain, when this is impossible due to certain circumstances beyond your control, there are certain things that you must keep in your handbag to protect you from the weather in case you get caught outside in the rain. Some of these are:

  1. A small foldable umbrella: In this season of unpredictable rains, it is necessary for you to have at least an umbrella in your bag to prevent you from getting wet. This will at least save your clothes and keep them in proper condition until you find a suitable shelter or get home.
  2. A pair of rubber slippers: This is not the time for fancy and pricey leather sandals, it is not the season for high heels either. It is the season to get cheap and practical rubber slippers or sandals if you are going to be walking around. They are easy to walk in and they will not get damaged when dipped in water.
  3. A raincoat: This is perhaps the best protection from the rain when you are outside. A raincoat covers most of the body, protecting it from the rain and cold. You can practically wear a raincoat and walk in the rain without getting wet. If you have one, fold it neatly into your bag and carry with you, just for this season.
  4. Sweaters: The strong breeze that accompanies the rainy season should not be underestimated as it can create an enabling environment for cold-related infections. A thick shawl or sweater will serve as a good barrier against the cold breeze. Get one to keep warm.
  5. Shower caps: Now no one likes a smelly hair. This is exactly what will happen if you expose your hair to the rain without drying it properly afterwards. Apart from the smell, it could also lead to cold and discomfort. To prevent all this, all you need to do is buy a shower cap to properly cover your head with when it’s raining or drizzling outside.
