  As part of celebrations for the Islamic Eid-ul-Mawlud, the federal government has declared Tuesday, October 19, 2021, as a public holiday. The event which marks the celebration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad will see Nigerian Muslims reflect on their religious life. Nigerian Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary Shuaib Belgore congratulated Nigerian Muslims at home and the ones based abroad on the celebration of the Eid-ul-Mawlud. The minister charged Nigerians to embrace the seeds of love, patience, and perseverance which the Holy Prophet Muhammad was known for, in other to ensure peace and security in the nation. Aregbesola encouraged the entire Nigerian population especially Muslims to shun violence, lawlessness and other crimes that are capable of destabilizing the country’s peace and security.

He said:
“As the indisputable leader of our race, we (Nigerians) must show responsible leadership in Africa.”
The minister went further to urge Nigerians to refrain from divisive activities that could undermine peace and throw the country into a strong political crisis. After encouraging Nigerians especially the youth population to work hard and embrace its virtues alongside peaceful co-existence amongst each other, the minister charged citizens to cooperate with President Buhari as he continues making efforts geared towards growing and developing the country.
