EbonyLife TV Set to Film ”Death and the King’s Horseman” by Wole Soyinka

Filmmaker, media entrepreneur and EbonyLife TV boss, Mo Abudu, has announced that EbonyLife TV has acquired the rights to produce a feature film “Death and the King’s Horseman” an adaptation of a play by Wole Soyinka.

She made the post after a lunch meeting with the Nobel laureate in London on Sunday. “Lunch with Prof today at Scotts in London,” Abudu wrote on her Instagram wall.

She also hinted “Work and planning continue with EbonyLife Films Development of our forthcoming feature film – Death and the King’s Horseman – Yes beautiful people ??? EbonyLife Films has acquired the rights to make this incredible work into a feature film for global distribution.”

The play which was first performed in 1975 and later published in 1998 is set in ancient Oyo. It is said to be based on a real-life incident where the colonial authorities prevented the horseman of a Yoruba King from committing ritual.

Abudu added, “We will continue to change the narrative and tell our stories.” EbonyLife TV is known for producing world-class afro-centric movies, some of which include Royal Hibiscus and The Wedding Party.
