Data Science Nigeria is taking steps to raise a generation of Nigerian data scientists who have what it takes to tap into the growing opportunities presented by the global market for big data. They’ll be hosting an e-learning boot camp for enthusiasts, beginners, and experts to bring them up to speed with the trends in data science.

Data Science Nigeria is an initiative of Bayo Adekanmbi, a commercial/strategy executive at MTN. The plan is to make Nigeria Africa’s hub for data science. It aims to achieve this by organizing boot camps, virtual online classes, face-to-face sessions and project-based support.

The boot camp’s focus will be on machine learning, R-statistics, and programming related to advanced data analysis. There’ll also be practical sessions on Python Programming from Python Nigeria, a group which promotes Python programming in Nigeria.

Persons interested in participating are required to complete a 12-hour course on IBM BigDataUniversity.com and submit a completion certificate to qualify for a place in the program.

The Data Science Nigeria learning boot camp holds in Lagos from Friday, January 20 to Sunday, January 22, 2017.

For more information on how to get a space at the boot camp, send an email to kayode_ledipo[@]yahoo.com.
