This year has certainly been one full of events; both good and bad, but we at Connect Nigeria like to promote and share positive information. We have compiled a list of our top ten events that took place in 2014.   1. In spite of the many challenges Nigeria faced in 2014, we were successfully able to curtail the Ebola outbreak in Nigeria resulting in other countries including the US seeking consultancy on how to tackle the deadly virus. This encouraged Nigerians and instilled hope in the heart of the nation. 2. On July 1st 2014, the cashless policy went nationwide, resulting in further steps to boost and progress the economy. 3. In 2014, Nigeria had one of the most peaceful and transparent elections in the history of democratic Nigeria- the Osun State Gubernatorial elections. 4. Connect Nigeria held their first annual Writers’ Conference in April 2014, as part of their CSR Initiative where over 120 people learned about the business of writing. Since then, books, movies and blogs have been started and finished. 5. The 9th edition of The Experience took place on December 5th, 2014.‎ It was the largest free gospel event in the world with over 600,000 attendants and several international gospel artists. ‎6. BlackBerry launched the Blackberry Passport in October and the BlackBerry classic in December, making a strong case for a comeback 7. Sanusi Lamido emerged as the Emir of Kano after being suspended as CBN governor proving there is always light at the end of the tunnel. 8. The slump in oil took place at the end of 2014 and although it looked like calamity, it is now pushing government to revive other sectors in order to improve the economy which has been the hope of many Nigerians. 9. The new iPhone 6 hit the markets, impressing Apple lovers globally. 10. Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke was elected as the first female President of OPEC.   I hope you remembered all of these events and if not have placed them in your memory bank for memorable events that took place in 2014.
