As preparations for the upcoming Connect Nigeria Business Fair 2020 hits the climax, Nigeria’s number one information portal, Connect Nigeria, held the press briefing on the largest SME gathering in Africa on Monday, August 24, 2020. Anchored by Connect Nigeria’s Williams Uzomba,  the briefing served as a great insight to the public on what is expected during the business fair which is scheduled to hold online on Thursday, August 27, 2020, and Friday, August 28, 2020. Williams Uzomba noted that just like what is obtainable offline, the first online edition of the fair promises to be bigger as participants will surely be thrilled by events which includes, masterclasses by some of the brightest business minds in Africa, Panel sessions by industry heavyweights, exhibitions, and a lots more. Speaking during the briefing which was held virtually just like the business fair will, the Chief Executive Officer of Connect Nigeria, Mr Emeka Okafor, stated that hosting the fair online is a better platform when compared to having it physically, owing to the fact that holding it online presents an opportunity for global reach which is indeed the dream of any enterprise. Reacting to questions regarding what motivated the idea of the Connect Nigeria Business Fair which is in its 8th edition, Mr Emeka noted that the demand from the public to have a networking platform for business minds within and outside Nigeria birthed the first edition with just a little over 500 participants. The success recorded in the second edition which had over 2000 participants solidified the need for an annual business fair which has since progressed to having thousands of participants each year. Commenting further, Mr Emeka noted the global demand for the fair is a major reason for its consistency as people within and outside Nigeria crave for the opportunity to showcase their enterprise to the globe through Connect Nigeria. Despite the coronavirus pandemic which served as a major threat to the possibility of holding the event this year, Mr Emeka disclosed that over 6000 participants have already registered for this year’s virtual event which covers a lot of business segments and sectors. He went further to note that this year’s edition will be highly interactive as participants from all parts of the globe are expected to easily relate with each other and share ideas on how to build and expand their enterprises, while entrepreneurs and business owners who requested for a booth from Connect Nigeria will also showcase their products online to the globe. Registration is still ongoing and it is free.
