In celebration of Children’s Day, Proud African Roots is presenting a 3-day event taking place on the 25th, 26th & 27th of May 2018 at Terra Kulture, Tiamiyu Savage, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Proud African Roots

Proud African Roots specialises in creating and developing world class content using African indigenous ideas and concepts such as African stories, proverbs, original songs and so on in raising and equipping a new generation of leaders from their early years, for the purpose of solving the leadership problems of Africa. Their sensational grandmother brand, ‘Grandma Wura’, has become a favourite amongst children and their families. Grandma Wura loves to motivate children towards their dreams and responsibilities from the early stages of life, while building strong families and great schools, and reinforcing the educational system by restoring values back to society. Proud African Roots has continued to tour schools with its leadership program, ‘Assembly Time with Grandma Wura’. Having held four Story Theatre musical events for schools and families with a total of 12 shows between December 2015 and May 2017, Proud African Roots, now presents another edition of Story Theatre to mark Children’s Day 2018.

Ebi-Bulu

The original stories used in Story Theatre border on themes around values and leadership. This year’s original story, ‘Ebi-Bulu’, which means ‘good heart’ is set in the Ijaw speaking parts of Nigeria. The state of a leader’s heart is of utmost importance, as this eventually determines the experience of his subjects or followers. When a leader is focused on service his followers will be happy, but a self-centered leader will care nothing about his people’s happiness, nor will he put their wellbeing over his own needs. Produced by Bola Edwards and directed by Israel Wekpe, ‘Ebi-Bulu’ is woven around two friends and their families whose ties must stand the true test of time and who must fight for their land in a time of adversity. But only the good heart, ‘Ebi-Bulu’, can save the people. In keeping with Proud African Roots tradition, the brand continues to look forward to partnering with schools, governments, interested brands, NGO organisations and individuals who are interested in this future building cause. Interested sponsors and partners are welcome to also sponsor as many children, and other aspects of the event, as they wish. This year’s ‘Story Theatre with Grandma Wura’ event will run for 3 days, with a total of 9 shows for an audience well above 4000, inclusive of schools, parents, teachers, orphanages, religious worship centres and more. During the event, a new book, called the Grandma Wura School Bus, will be launched. Tickets are available on www.back2myroots.tv, www.afritickets.com, and at Terra Kulture.
