Bridging the Energy Gap in Rural Nigeria

Solaris Green Tech Hub was born out of a deep-seated passion for sustainable energy and a desire to address the significant energy gap in rural Nigeria. For many communities, access to electricity is either non-existent or unreliable, forcing them to rely on expensive and polluting fuels like kerosene and diesel. According to the World Bank, over 85 million Nigerians lack access to electricity, and many more experience frequent power outages. This energy deficit has forced communities and families to rely on expensive and polluting alternatives such as diesel generators, which not only strain household budgets but also contribute to environmental degradation. Chiemela Anosike, the visionary behind Solaris Green Tech Hub, recognized these challenges and took action. Leveraging her extensive training and experience in project management, business development, and product design, she launched Solaris Green Tech Hub to provide clean, affordable, and reliable energy solutions tailored to the unique needs of Nigeria’s rural communities.

The Solaris Green Tech Hub Innovative Solutions

At the core of Solaris Green Tech Hub’s mission is the design and deployment of innovative microgrids and solar booths. These solutions are specifically tailored to meet the needs of low-income households, businesses, and entire communities that are disconnected from the national grid or lack access to a steady power supply.

The solar booths designed by Solaris Green Tech Hub are affordable, durable, and easy to maintain. They are versatile and can be used for a variety of purposes, from charging mobile phones to powering small appliances. These booths are strategically located in communities to maximize their reach and impact. This ensures that even the most marginalized communities can benefit from clean energy without the burden of high costs or complex maintenance requirements. By reducing dependence on fossil fuels, these solutions also contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change. In addition to providing clean energy, it offers training and capacity-building programs to equip communities with the skills needed to manage and maintain their solar systems. This not only ensures the sustainability of the projects but also creates job opportunities, further driving economic development in these areas.

Recognitions and Achievements

Since its inception, Solaris Green Tech Hub has received numerous accolades and recognitions for its innovative approach to sustainable energy. Some of the notable awards include the RES4Africa Foundation’s Micro-Grid Academy Young Talent of the Year 2022 Award, the WIMBIZ Impact Investment Award 2022, and the Nigeria Climate Innovation Center (NCIC) Energy Challenge Award of 2022.
