The WHO Internship Program offers for the internship are exclusive in the technical and administrative areas:
- Communication
- External relations
- Human resource

To be eligible for the internship
- The applicant must be at least twenty years of age.
- The applicant must be currently enrolled in a reputable university or equivalent and studying a relevant course such as public health, medical, or social field that is important to the technical role of the WHO. An applicant’s study program must be leading to a formal qualification (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate).
- Applicants who already have an academic qualification can also apply for the internship if they apply for the internship within the six months following the completion of their formal qualification.
- The applicant must be fluent in one of the working languages of the WHO.
- The applicant must not be related to a WHO staff member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).
- The applicant must hold a valid passport of a WHO member state.
- The applicant must not have previously participated in the WHO internship.

- It provides medical and accident insurance coverage for interns.
- Provision is made for the to-and-fro airfare for interns to the WHO office.
