  The World Health Organization is offering internship positions for students and recent graduates to gain valuable insight into the technical and administrative operations of the WHO. The WHO Internship Program will enhance participants’ knowledge and experience across various areas to advance public health.

The WHO Internship Program offers for the internship are exclusive in the technical and administrative areas:
  • Communication
  • External relations
  • Human resource
The internship is also an opportunity for the educational experience of interns to be improved through capacity-building opportunities.

To be eligible for the internship

  • The applicant must be at least twenty years of age.
  • The applicant must be currently enrolled in a reputable university or equivalent and studying a relevant course such as public health, medical, or social field that is important to the technical role of the WHO. An applicant’s study program must be leading to a formal qualification (undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate).
  • Applicants who already have an academic qualification can also apply for the internship if they apply for the internship within the six months following the completion of their formal qualification.
  • The applicant must be fluent in one of the working languages of the WHO.
  • The applicant must not be related to a WHO staff member (e.g., son/daughter, brother/sister, or mother/father).
  • The applicant must hold a valid passport of a WHO member state.
  • The applicant must not have previously participated in the WHO internship.

  • Provision is made for the to-and-fro airfare for interns to the WHO office.
