With over 195 member nations, the FAO, which operates in over 130 countries across the globe, is the leading international organization in efforts aimed at defeating hunger and achieving food security for all. The organization is strongly committed to ensuring everyone in the world has access to “enough high-quality food to lead active, healthy lives.”

In line with the objective of wiping out hunger, FAO believes everyone can play a role in achieving this and is urging eligible persons to join volunteer actions where suitable toward achieving the “UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO’s Strategic Framework to support the 2030 Agenda through the transformation to more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agri-food systems for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, leaving no one behind.” The Regular Volunteer Program is a proactive and strategic step toward mobilizing broad-based volunteer services from citizens of FAO member states to eliminate hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition. Selected volunteers will report to an assigned supervisor and field relevant to FAO’s mission and work.

To be eligible for the program
- The applicant must be a citizen of an FAO member state.
- The applicant must have completed secondary school education.
- The applicant must have a working knowledge of at least one FAO language (English, French, Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic). Knowledge of a second FAO language is an advantage.
- The applicant should be 18 years of age or older.
- The applicant must be able to adapt to an international multicultural environment and possess great communication skills.
