The Mastercard Foundation Fellowship is an 8-month program designed to develop the exceptional entrepreneurial potential and mindset of leaders towards driving social and financial change. The Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship is reputable for boosting the confidence, network, resources, knowledge, and financial support necessary to build a startup with a strong impact.

Some of the benefits of the program include:
  • Participants will gain best-in-class training.
  • Participants will be part of a business boot camp delivered by the Queen’s University faculty and industry leaders who bring decades of experience in entrepreneurship.
  • Participants will be guided through a proven step-by-step framework for scalable startups developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • It is an opportunity to gain coaching and mastery of pitching.
  • Live workshop programs on goal setting, marketing, and recruiting are held for the entirety of the program.
  • Participants will also gain Queen’s University-awarded micro-credentials on entrepreneurship.
  • At least 60 fellows will be selected and awarded a stipend of CAD 500 in the final phase.
  • The program presents an opportunity to pitch for prizes in the region of CAD 15,000.
  • Fellows will be opportune to travel to the Dunin-Deshpande Queen’s Innovation Centre to build lasting networks that will help the growth of their businesses.

To be eligible for the program:
  • The applicant must be a student or recent graduate of any academic discipline from any post-secondary African academic institution.
  • The applicant must be able to demonstrate willingness and commitment to develop their entrepreneurial mindset and utilize resources provided by the program.
  • The program is covered in English. However, mentorship may be offered in English and French, but assignments and pitches must be done in English.
