The Aliko Dangote Foundation and the VDMA (Mechanical Engineering Industry Association, Germany) are collaborating to offer Nigerians a chance to get technical training for a number of vocations. If you would like to get trained in mechanical, electronic, or electrical disciplines, here’s a chance to do so.

The Vocational Skills Training Program will prepare its participants for roles in Nigeria’s manufacturing sector. They will receive instruction in a Nigerian setting that is infused with German expertise and technology know-how.

The program will focus specifically on three main tracks:

  • Full trade vocational training mechanical program.
  • Short courses mechanical program.
  • Short courses electrical program.

There will be seven short courses for advanced training, which will last between two and four weeks; and a 30-month professional, dual full trade vocational training course.

Eligibility

This program is open to people in the following categories:

  • Technical specialists from the manufacturing sector who want to gain new skills or sharpen existing ones as part of their professional growth.
  • School leavers who want to gain qualifications in mechanics, electronics and mechatronics.
  • Instructors who want to be able to facilitate advanced training.

How The Program Will Unfold

This program will run for 30 months.

The first part of the program will last for 18 months; trainees who are considered to have succeeded at this stage will undergo another 12 months of training to become industrial mechanics.

The training will take place at the Dangote Academy. It has classrooms, computer and technical drawing rooms, and various workshops. There will be accommodation for students as well.

The Application Process

Persons who want to apply for the ADF-VDMA Technical Training Program should follow these steps to do so:

  • Download the short course calendar here and choose a course (or courses).
  • Send an email to dangote.academy@dangote.com, stating their preferred courses, number of participants, and contact number.

Applications will remain open until April 30, 2022.
