Apple has unveiled a new and its latest iPhone, iPhone 5. This phone is dubbed the slimmest, tallest, lightest, and fastest iPhone – ever. The smartphone world has been anticipating the release of this new version of the iPhone since the beginning of this year and it has finally arrived. The recent iPhone before the iPhone 5 is the iPhone 4S and it was released in October, 2011. The iPhone 5 is 7.6mm thin, weighing 112g, it is 18% thinner, 20% lighter and 9mm taller than iPhone 4S. The iPhone 5 is the slimmest smart phone in the world according to Apple. Apple also said that the processor in iPhone 5 was made by its new “A6” chip, making iPhone 5 twice as fast as iPhone 4S.
Here are some of the new features to the latest iPhone 5
The processor: a faster processor called the Apple A6 which connects to mobile carriers with a 4G LTE connection allowing one to browse a lot faster.
Screen: 4 inch screen compared to a 3.5 inch screen of the iPhone 4S. According to Apple, this screen makes viewing web pages, photos and videos a lot easier.
Operation system: Apple updated the OS for the new iPhone 5 to iOS6 to accommodate the lager 4 inch screen. The new OS adds new icons to the home screen including a 3D version of digital maps and a feature called Passbook. The Passbook feature allows one to pull up digital coupons, airline tickets and payment apps stored in the home screen.
Some features and apps that are no longer in the new iPhone include Google maps and the YouTube app.
Apple also updated its headphones to Earpods which gives a better audio quality, and also announced a new line of iPods at the San Francisco event on Wednesday.
The new iPhone 5 will be available from September 21 and starts at $200 (with terms and conditions of course).
