In case you’ve been dreaming of travelling to any country in Africa but when you remember the visa issues you get discouraged and sit down back. Well, you can now go shopping for your travelling bags.
The African Union recently launched a new passport– The African Passport. This passport grants citizens of all 54 member nations a visa-free travel throughout the continent. There are two types of the African Passport, one issued by the African Union for officials and people who travel a lot on business and the other issued by member nations to everyone else. The Passport will bear the African Union’s name and that of the issuing country.
Also, there will be a free trade zone, which is touted as the largest free trade zone in the world giving citizens access to a market of about one billion people with a gross domestic product of more than $3trillion.
I know you’re already gearing up, well, settle down a little. The passport and free trade zone are still in the works, though the passport for officials has already been released. It is expected that every other citizen will get access to the passport by the end of 2018.
