The AfOx-HIP welcomes innovators from diverse scientific backgrounds, extending beyond life sciences and engineering, to harness any technology that can lead to groundbreaking disease prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment solutions. Your ingenuity is valued and encouraged whether you’re delving into therapeutics, vaccines, digital technologies, medical devices, or diagnostics. This program focuses on solutions that exhibit strong potential for bolstering health systems and promise significant advancements in healthcare equity and accessibility. Organizers are looking for innovations that can make a tangible difference, particularly in underserved communities.
Benefits
Selected participants, up to 50 in each cohort, will undergo an intensive training course on Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Health for Africa. This comprehensive program covers essential topics such as systems thinking, financial projections, crafting and delivering persuasive pitches, and navigating the intricacies of intellectual property and regulatory frameworks.Sign up for the Connect Nigeria daily newsletter
The training is designed to be flexible and accessible, delivered through a series of web-based sessions spanning 16 weeks. With a self-paced interactive format and weekly workshops, participants can expect to dedicate 8–10 hours per week, making it feasible for even the busiest innovators and entrepreneurs to participate. Personalized mentorship and guidance will be provided to assist fellows in refining their ventures. Additionally, the program supports collaboration through virtual workrooms, enabling small group engagement and co-creation among the cohort, thereby building an interactive network of peer support.

The AfOx-HIP is open to innovators working with any type of technology and across all disciplines, including those outside the traditional life sciences and engineering fields. - Reducing premature deaths from non-communicable diseases among African populations
- Optimizing diagnostic and prognostic tests tailored to African contexts
