Simi and
Adekunle Gold made news when Simi posted, on Instagram, a photo of a kiss they shared on the stage of “Simi Live in Lagos” concert which held in December 2018. A post which she quickly removed. This was coming after prolonged speculation about their relationship, and now the two are tying the knot in Lagos, Nigeria.
Their traditional marriage, which held on Wednesday, 9th January in Victoria Island, Lagos, came just three weeks after their marriage introduction also in Lagos, but without any publicity. Their white wedding holds on 10th January at Ilashe Beach, and only 300 guests are expected to attend.
How they met
The two met while Simi was performing at an event in Lagos; Adekunle Gold had been a longtime fan from the time Simi was a gospel singer, long before she transitioned into mainstream entertainment. She also just knew him as the “King of Photoshop”, a graphic artists whose works had aroused conversations in the media. At the time she was oblivious of his singing talent. They became friends and grew closer by the day.
Fans began to speculate about their relationship when they appeared in several photographs looking all loved up. Gold also had a song “Orente” dedicated to her way back in 2015, and would always talk about how important she was to him and how he couldn’t imagine life without her.
There were also speculations about a relationship between Simi and Falz, especially after the release of “Soldier”. Fans thought there was chemistry between the two singers. Simi in an interview with Sunday Scoop mentioned;
“I always like to keep my personal life away from the public.”
Adekunle was born into the Kosoko royal family in Lagos state. He has excelled as a singer, songwriter and graphic artist since 2010. Simisola Ogunleye, on the other hand, released her debut album in 2008, although becoming prominent after her 2014 song “Tiff”. They are both highly celebrated, with numerous awards to show for it.
We expect that later today, social media will be replete with photos from the exclusive wedding holding at Ilashe Beach, and like you, we are waiting to have our fill too.
