Kitchen appliances have become a very important part of modern kitchens. They’ve turned cooking from a mundane chore to a more enjoyable, fun art. Here we discuss five of the most common appliances found in homes.
Blender
A blender (sometimes called a liquidizer in British English) is a kitchen and laboratory appliance used to mix, purée, or emulsify food and other substances. They are considered versatile as they can carry out a variety of functions. It can emulsify and liquefy food ingredients without compromising the texture and the consistency of it. It is not only ideal for home use, even in hospitals and other facilities, blender is also used. When buying a blender take into consideration motor speed, design, and controls.
Microwaves
Microwaves have been around since the 1940’s, they became a popular feature in kitchens only recently. Everything that can be done on a stove or an oven can now be done in a microwave. Just like blenders, microwaves are highly versatile as they can be used to defrost, cook and reheat foods. They are also easy to clean and are huge time savers.
Electric Kettles
There are a number of advantages to using an electric kettle instead of a conventional stovetop kettle. The most obvious one being speed. It takes an electric kettle 3-4 minutes to heat up a couple of liters of water as compared to the stove top kettle that takes around 10 minutes. An electric kettle also has a feature that shuts the kettle down when the water temperature reaches boiling, many even have a feature that prevents the kettle from boiling dry, which can result in disaster for a stovetop kettle. So you don’t need to race down to the kitchen to put off the ear-splitting shriek of water that has been boiling for too long.
Refrigerator
A refrigerator may be one of the most important kitchen appliances. It plays a valuable role in our kitchen. Preserving our food and keeping it away from spoilage and consequently saving us money.
Pressure cooker
A pressure cooker is a pot so to say, with a lid that has valves and can be tightened when being used. The food is allowed to cook under pressure. The valves release the extra pressure to avoid bursting since the lid is tightened to prevent any leakage of pressure inside the pot. Pressure cooking helps retain the quality of the food by preparing them quickly and with very little water.  Vegetables remain crisp, colourful and retain the texture and flavour . Meats stay juicy and moist.
