So, when prior planning seems to not make it easy to visit your dream vacation, there is just one thing left to do. Make or save up more money. Today we will look at a few ways you can raise extra cash for that dream holiday you have had planned forever.
See It As Your Reward
Saving can be a bore if there is no goal attached to it. And with daily expenses demanding every resource, it’s hard to not see saving for a trip as a luxury. My advice is: see saving for your next holiday trip as a way of rewarding yourself for working hard daily. Recently I ran into a friend who kept praising my family’s many adventures. He, too, wanted that experience, but the desire to hustle was stronger. You need to understand that taking a break to hang out at Abraka resort using the Warri-Itakpe railway is a necessary reward for your hustle. What shall it profit a (wo)man if (s)he hustles and stores up bank accounts full of cash and dies without enjoying it on simple pleasures with immense mental health benefits?Choose A Fun Reason To Save
Another great way to motivate yourself to save for your trip is to have a reason that breeds excitement. For instance, saving for a visit to a bookstore or an art gallery might be boring for a thrill seeker.Sign up to the Connect Nigeria daily newsletter
Thrill-seekers love activities that bring a rush of adrenaline, like swimming with sharks or sand-dune riding in an undulating desert terrain like Yusufari oasis. So I recommend choosing a tourist destination that fills you with excitement based on your personal preference. It will motivate you to save as much as possible and soon.
Take Up A Savings Challenge
You can challenge yourself starting with a fixed amount and increasing it each time you add more. For instance, if you save N5,000 for say a trip to Olumo Rock by January and your chosen date it the Eid holiday coming up in July this year. You can decide to save in multiples of 5 or 10 thousands so that by June, you have enough cash for transportation and a daycation at least. Or you could partner with a travel buddy and start a saving challenge or competition. You guys can have a 12-week challenge or the 50% income saving challenge for a quarter for a quarterly or biannual adventure trip. The loser of the challenge will have to do on tour activity dictated by the winner when you guys eventually travel to Obudu Mountain Resort as planned.Start A Side Hustle Specifically For Your Trip
For those who feel there isn’t enough income to save at all. Why not take on a side hustle or a job with passive income potential? Whether you want to partner with a multi-level firm, start selling imported goods or start either a freelance or consultation gig, you can start a second business and save all the proceeds of that business towards your next trip. Just make sure it is a job you equally find interesting or enjoyable so the stress won’t force you to quit before you reach your goal. Now that you know, we hope it helps to get rid of the financial rain pouring on your holiday plans. Life is meant to be lived, so let’s live a little, shall we?
